STUART NICHOLSON
Stuart Nicholson was
appointed Assistant Director of Music at Birmingham Cathedral in September
2004. Whilst studying at the Royal College of Music, he was awarded
scholarships at the Temple Church and St Paul's Cathedral; he became an
Associate of the Royal College of Music in organ performance with honours
and graduated in July 1997. He has toured the USA and Europe as accompanist
for the mixed choir of St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh, and was
organist and director of music at Waltham Abbey in Essex, following an
illustrious line of musicians dating back to Thomas Tallis. He is in much
demand as a soloist, accompanist, choral director and a recording artist
including most recently appearing as soloist on two CDs of chamber music
with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Victoria
Green was born in Ilford and studied with George Zarb before gaining a place
at Trinity College of Music, London to train under Roland Gallery. While at
College she participated in numerous Masterclasses with guitarists including
David Russell, Leo Brouwer and Carlos Bonell, as well as gaining 2nd place
in the Ivor Mairants International Guitar Award. Upon completing her degree
Victoria spent time in New York studying privately with Ben Verdery. Back in
the UK she has a busy and varied career and is much in demand as both a solo
and chamber music performer including recent recitals at venues such as
Birmingham Cathedral, Waltham Abbey, Essex and St. Mary’s Cathedral,
Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. As a soloist Victoria
has given numerous concerto performances including Rodrigo’s Concierto de
Aranjeuz accompanied by members of the BBC Symphony and Royal Philharmonic
Orchestras. Victoria was also featured in a recent recording of the
choristers of St. Edward’s Romford In Dulci Jubilo performing a number of
new arrangements for treble voices and guitar as well as appearing on a new
recording of the chamber music of Roderick Elms performing a specially
composed piece for Guitar and Organ.
